Make the Default Safe
Most good decisions are made before the button is ever pressed.
People should not need a manual to avoid an expensive mistake. The better product makes the sensible path the easy path.
Defaults are product decisions with unusually long shadows. Choose them carefully, explain them plainly, and make changing them possible.
Good systems help people succeed while they are busy doing something else.
